Our Story

We have extensive experience in acute and progressive neurological disorders including stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, and Dementia.

Acute hospital patients are usually seen within 24 hours (ie by next business day). The response time for aged care facilities and individuals living at home varies according to urgency of referral, however we aim to see all acute cases within 24 hours if possible.

For individuals seeking ongoing therapy or rehabilitation following discharge from hospital, there is usually a minimal waiting time before therapy can commence (less than 2 weeks).

All Speech Pathologists at Adult Speech Pathology hold provider numbers recognised by all South Australian Health Funds, enabling rebates to be claimed for services if you have private health insurance extras cover. We recommend that you check the amount of your out of pocket expenses (gap) with your health fund, as rebates vary.

We also accept GP referrals for eligible individuals under the Medicare funded Chronic Disease Management/Extended Primary Care services. A fee gap does apply.

Adult Speech Pathology treat clients eligible for Return To Work SA claims and clients covered by insurance following motor vehicle accidents at agreed Return To Work SA rates.

We are also recognised providers for the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) and can directly bill DVA with a medical referral if you live in your own home or in low level care, and if are a DVA Gold Card holder.

We are not NDIS registered but we do see NDIS participants who are Plan Managed or Self-Managed.

Our standard fees include travel within the Adelaide Metropolitan region (within a 15km radius of the GPO) A travel fee may be charged for visits outside the Adelaide metropolitan region.
